NCSoft recently announced the closure of Paragon Studios, and the shut down of its main product, MMO City of Heroes. This came as a huge surprise to the employees of Paragon Studios and players of the game alike, who had no clue this was coming. What's more, City of Heroes was, in fact, still profitable, and was only shut down to help cover costs for NCSoft's other projects. The unceremonious closing of Paragon Studios and firing of its 80 employees, without even giving them an opportunity to arrange a proper in-game farewell, is seen as particularly heinous to this tipster. Many players have decided not to go quietly, and are organizing efforts to save the game, from petitioning, to appealing to Valve to buy the rights to operate the game, to attempting to buy the rights to the game themselves.
